Covid-19 Response
With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, UTMC had to pivot on content. As a hospital, our role was two-fold: educating our community and supporting our staff.
With knowledge on COVID-19 shifting rapidly in the early days of the pandemic, it was important that UTMC social media was informative and accurate. It was also necessary to update the community about new safety protocols.
As knowledge grew, I included videos with physicians and specialists regarding COVID-19 and the flu and other similar topics.
During the initial spike, the hospital staff felt the burden of the pandemic the hardest. The community really stepped up to show their support and social media served to highlight that. High engagement per reach (21%) demonstrated how valuable this content was to UTMC staff and the Toledo community.
