Kulikov 1,000 Games
When a player plays in their 1,000th NHL game, it’s a really big deal. Different teams handle this milestone differently; our organization chose to have Dmitry Kulikov’s ceremony several games after he recorded the milestone. This meant that we needed to recognize him on the night he played his 1,000th game, continue to build hype throughout the week, and adequately cover his ceremony as well.
I turned the time in between Kulikov recording his 1,000th game and his ceremony into a mini “Kuli” week. I was able to pull content since he was originally drafted by our team. Additionally, he had played a major role in the Stanley Cup winning goal from the prior year’s championship. I was also able to promote Kulikov-themed merchandise that was available in our team store.
On the night of the ceremony, I worked with our video and creative teams to cover all of the various pre-game activities including specialty jerseys and his teammates wearing special shirts for arrivals.
Following the ceremony, I managed our social media team as we worked to get the content out as quickly as possible while balancing all the other needs from the game since it was also Women in Sports Night and a different player scored 39 seconds into the game and recorded a hat trick. Together, we were able to get all of the content out in a timely and efficient manner that gave everything its proper moment.
